However the listening challenges what are stated by the reading with the following reasons. First of all, the reading suggests that changing the fields which separates the forests into forest corridor would be an effective way. Not as the reading puts it, the lecture counters that forests beyond the living area of lemurs exert great danger to lemurs. Even if converting the cultivated fields into forests, lemurs would not set foot on it. Additionally, strengthening management by prohibiting illegal hunting indicated by the reading, is another way in consideration. The listening, however, again casts doubt on this solution by pointing out that a large number of people are catching lemurs for pets. More seriously, besides keeping them for pets, lemurs are also hunted for food. In other words, a wide range of hunting by various methods is utilized, hence leading the process of controlling the hunting and preventing their extinction to be quite difficult and ineffective. When it comes to the last solution, capturing lemurs for artificial raising and reservation asserted by the reading material, the listening argues that this method is unreasonable for the lemurs can be classified into a wide range of types and different types of lemurs have different life habits. The problem is that more than 20 kinds of food is required to feed them in order to raise all the various types of them. (242 words) |

Which one do you prefer? Students in high school should learn by sitting there listening to the teacher while taking notes or communicating and sharing ideas with class. Sample Answer: Having a glimpse of the current system of education, the teaching method adopted by teachers has undergone a tremendous change from a form of cramming to various class activities. Some beholders assert that class discussion, a kind of class activity, should be eliminated due to the waste of time. According to my experience, it is of paramount importance for teachers to allow class discussion. Primarily, through communicating and sharing ideas with classmates, students’ passion for study will be inspired and maintained. Evidently, seldom do students expect to listen to the teachers all day without expressing their own ideas, regardless of how humorous the teachers might be. Through conducting class discussion, teachers are able to free students from the monotony and tense atmosphere of the lecturing time, thus minimizing the chance of getting bored among students. To illustrate, a major education website has conducted a survey among twenty key high schools in China. 80% of the teachers reflect that during the class discussion, they usually marvel at the renewed zest and enthusiasm showed by students. Just like fighting in a heated battle, students are eager to make their voice heard during the period of discussion. In addition, students can have a comprehensive understanding of what has been taught in class by sharing ideas with each other. For one thing, those so-called straight-A students, with deeper and more profound insights, can pass on their understanding and know-how to others. For another, those students with lower study ability will work harder to figure out the solutions to their puzzling points indicated in the lecturing time, with the purpose of not being left behind. It is due to such an interaction that students can achieve more favorable results. I still remember when I was in high school, math was the subject which confused me a lot. The formulas imparted by the teacher were great difficulties for me. Thanks to the class discussion part, my deskmate went all out to help me by explaining all the formulas again, which enlightened me a lot. Nevertheless, it is no denying that an excessive allocation of time for class discussion may cause some problems. For example, taking advantage of this chance of loose control of the class by teachers, some students may share some topics unrelated to the class with others, leading to a waste of treasured class hours. Just as a common notion suggests, time is money, let alone the time for adopting academic knowledge. Therefore, it is the teachers’ obligation to manage the time and pace of discussion appropriately. In a nutshell, to ensure the smooth and sound process of the class, communication among students need to be carried out. It is high time that all educators took into consideration about how to improve study efficiency to the largest extent. (464 words) |
